The City of Ember is about a City that is dying. Two kids Lina and Doon are trying to find a way out of Ember! Doon works in the Pipe works and Lina is a messenger. While trying to find a way out through the pipe works they found a room! They looked inside and saw their mayor sleeping and eating!
Lina lives with her Grandmother and her sister Poppy in a yarn shop. In this house Lina finds a strange box-that has 000 on the front. But when granny dies Lina and Poppy go to live with Mrs. Murdo. Doon lives with his dad. He has a pipe works helmet that has MAYFLEET scratched on the back-that is Lina's last name.
In the end the end they find there way out of Ember and see daylight for the first time!
